Aquatic Ecology Intern

Northern Water is seeking an Aquatic Ecology Intern to join the Environmental Planning Department. This intern will contribute to Northern Water’ monitoring and applied science investigations focused on aquatic ecosystems and resource management. The intern will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and professionals, while supporting ongoing research and monitoring projects and gaining hands-on experience in aquatic ecology and limnology. 

Civil I - West Slope
Granby, CO

Northern Water is seeking a Civil I to join the Collection Systems Department in Granby, CO. This person will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of facilities for the collection and distribution of water. Duties include monitoring and data collection at canal outlet works, reservoirs, dams and water conveyance pipelines. Data collection includes recording reservoir elevations and water flows. This individual will also perform maintenance and repairs of canals, reservoirs, pipelines, structures and roads. In addition, this person will patrol Northern Water waterways and assist with infrastructure maintenance.    

Civil Engineer Intern
Berthoud, CO

Northern Water is seeking a Civil Engineer Intern to assist with water civil infrastructure and water resources projects. The junior or senior undergraduate student will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and apply their skillset in the areas of analysis, coordination and design on large diameter pipelines, pump stations, dam and hydraulic infrastructure, condition assessments and rehabilitation projects. This summer 2025 internship opportunity may be extended throughout the school year depending on the availability of assignments.

Conservation Garden Intern

This person will gain valuable experience by assisting with elements of the annual budget and supporting documentation for audit, monitoring and grant reimbursement requests.

GIS Technician Intern

Northern Water is seeking a GIS Technician Intern to work among a three-member GIS team focused on the Geospatial program. Learning and tasks will help execute a GIS strategy, assist in the review and improvement of real estate records, coordinate with various staff on improving GIS records and collect field data. Interns in this role can benefit from mentoring among a professional GIS team while increasing technical GIS skills.

Mechanical/Electrical I

Northern Water is seeking a Mechanical/Electrical I for the operation and maintenance of facilities associated with the collection and distribution of water. Responsibilities include assisting with maintenance, monitoring, and operating reservoir and canal mechanical equipment, water conveyance pipelines, pumping/generating facilities and all associated mechanical/electrical equipment. This individual will install, text, repair and maintain the mechanical/electrical equipment associated with the water delivery system. The role will also operate high-pressure values and related devices. All work must be done while using the necessary safety/protective devices as required by Northern Water as well as keeping all equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition.  

Meeting Support Specialist
Berthoud, CO

Northern Water is seeking a Meeting Support Specialist to be a part of the high functioning and energetic Communications team. A successful candidate will have an eye for organization to plan and coordinate meetings by aligning calendars across two campuses, overseeing meeting requests, registration, catering and more. This position will schedule a variety of meetings and ensure all details are conveyed for multiple department coordination, including audio/visual equipment, facilities, administrative and more. Managing all catering needs for meetings will be a primary task, along with preparation of meeting materials, informational packets and other correspondence. Alongside the Communications Department, this position will assist in Northern Water’s presence at events, conferences and presentations by coordinating materials and displays, as well as assist in all corporate event efforts including logistics, registration, vendor communication and more. The use and management of a customer relationship management (CRM) system will be essential to managing meeting contacts, registration and conference room setups. Additional responsibilities will include facilitating all video conferencing for monthly Board of Directors and committee meetings, while also assisting meetings with this technology.

Seasonal Landscaper - Grounds Worker
Berthoud, CO

Northern Water is seeking a seasonal employee to maintain various aspects of the grounds and facilities at the Berthoud campus. This individual will perform landscape care, pruning, weeding and small design upgrades, as well as assist with maintaining lawns, water feature, irrigation repair, mulching, replacing foliage and weed control.
