Educating Our Communities About Water
Every year Northern Water collects and delivers more than 200,000 acre-feet of supplemental water from the Colorado-Big Thompson Project. The water is collected from the melting snowpack in the Colorado River Basin headwaters and transported beneath the Continental Divide (via the Adams Tunnel) to Northeastern Colorado. Northern Water’s Municipal Subdistrict also delivers Windy Gap Project water to the Front Range via the C-BT Project’s infrastructure. In addition, Northern Water maintains canals and pipelines, monitors water quality, plans for proposed projects and more. We have a great deal to share about Northern Water and these projects, which is why educating the public about what we do is so important.
Our education and community outreach opportunities include project tours, children’s water festivals, water efficiency demonstrations and more.
