Commercial Indoor Assessment Program Helps Save Water

Northern Water’s Commercial Indoor Assessment program has returned for the 2024/2025 season. This free indoor water-use assessment program, offered through a partnership with Brendle Group, aims to reduce water use and costs for commercial and municipal properties. Eligible properties include office buildings, schools, hotels, restaurants, places of worship and more. The program is also offered in Spanish to make it as accessible as possible.

After a review of past water usage, a walkthrough of the facility and direct installations of high-efficiency fixtures, Brendle Group provides each participant with a detailed report summarizing water saving recommendations.  Each report also highlights the return on investment of each recommendation and lists available incentives to help cover the cost of implementation.

Since 2021, Northern Water has provided indoor water-use assessments in partnership with the Brendle Group for 21 properties across Northern Water service boundaries. Through installations of water-saving fixtures, participants save a total

of 1.2 million gallons of water each year. Additional saving opportunities of 12.9 million gallons were identified during assessments and detailed recommendations were provided to guide participants toward implementation. Through the program, Northern Water has supported schools, restaurants, breweries, recreation centers, police facilities and food manufacturing facilities with assessments.

Assessments are offered on a first come, first served basis. To sign up for an assessment for an eligible commercial property, please fill out an application or contact Darren Nowels for more information.
