Crews Place New Concrete Liner on Willow Creek Pump Canal

The Collection Systems Department recently worked with Dietzler Construction to remove and replace concrete panels and riprap on the Willow Creek Pump Canal immediately downstream of the Willow Creek Reservoir and the Willow Creek Canal headworks.

Northern Water staff had been monitoring seepage from this section of the canal. Based on the quantity and location of the seepage, they determined the concrete-lined floor and riprap-lined sidewalls should be replaced with a full concrete panel lining, including sealed joints, underlain by a clay lining foundation material.

Collections crews removed the old concrete panels and installed the new clay lining foundation material. Dietzler Construction formed and placed new concrete panels and sealed concrete joints. Staff extended the clay lining several hundred feet downstream and installed riprap on top of the lining for long term protection.
