Water Efficiency Workshop Brings Ideas

More than 60 stakeholders joined the Water Efficiency Department on April 23 for a facilitated interactive workshop to help chart a new regional water ethic for Northern Colorado.

Participants brainstormed foundational elements of a regional landscape water ethic, identified challenges to adopting it and strategies to address. Stakeholders also envisioned what high-quality future landscapes and urban spaces with less turf should look like, and discussed the most-important conservation measures to consider as Northern Water facilitates an effort to remove 30 percent of the non-functional turf in our region. A second breakout session helped inform future water efficiency services offered by Northern Water focused on specific program elements including training, outreach, needed resources and tools such as grants, consultations, water audits and novel ideas to advance removal of non-functional turf.

Northern Water staff is digesting and synthesizing the rich dialogue and abundance of ideas shared during the workshop and formulating next steps.
