Employee Spotlight: Lynn Vega

Lynn Vega works for Black & Veatch, the construction manager of the Chimney Hollow Reservoir project. She is a civil engineer and has been assisting with the project’s behind-the-scenes tasks in the office since February 2022. Her time is spent managing the change process including writing requests of change proposals, field orders, change orders and change directives, reviewing contractor quotes, managing the monthly progress dashboard and verifying quantities completed as part of the payment application process.

The opportunity to work on this project excites Vega as this is her first job out of college. She graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Western Michigan University in August 2021. She is enjoying being able to apply what she learned in school to real world experiences.

Her favorite part about working on this project is being able see the construction firsthand.

“I like being in the middle of the action,” she said. “It allows me to do my job successfully by quickly communicating and updating others with necessary information about the project.”

Vega’s organizational skills go beyond her work at Chimney Hollow. She is currently planning her upcoming wedding in October.
