Pinewood Reservoir is part of the Colorado-Big Thompson Project, which spreads over approximately 250 miles in the State of Colorado. It stores, regulates, and diverts water from the Colorado River on the West Slope of the Continental Divide to the East Slope of the Rocky Mountains. It provides supplemental water for irrigation of about 615,000 acres of land and municipal and industrial and recreational water to more than 1 million residents in Northeastern Colorado. The Project generates enough electricity to power nearly 68,000 households each year.
