Chimney Hollow never sleeps. Neighbors in the area will notice lights and dust as work continues through the night to keep our schedule on track. Tunnel crews are working on the site in two, 10-hour shifts, with the remaining four hours dedicated to maintaining the equipment used during those shifts.
Project wide, the goal is to keep noise levels leaving the site at or below the county mandated noise ordinance levels, day and night. We take this very seriously and will continue to monitor noise levels at multiple locations 24 hours a day.
Current night work includes:
Tunnel operations through the night
Crushing operations until midnight
Even with night operations, rest assured that there are no blasts scheduled during nighttime hours. Weekly blasting schedules are posted by 5 p.m. each Friday to our Construction webpage. Blasting schedules may be adjusted at any time due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, but will never occur earlier than 7 a.m. and no later than 5 p.m. The website will be updated as needed.
Additionally, as a warning to our neighbors, bear sightings have increased in the area, especially overnight and early in the morning.
We will continue to share updates about night work and other important information on our website, social media and through direct communication with our neighbors.
