Northern Integrated Supply Project Earns Place on EPA Program Waitlist

The Northern Integrated Supply Project has earned inclusion onto the waitlist for federal low-cost financing through the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act, which helps local communities address their water and wastewater needs.

The waitlist status means NISP has completed the first step toward securing WIFIA funding and signals that the project meets the Environmental Protection Agency's WIFIA program criteria. As funding becomes available, the NISP Water Activity Enterprise will apply for this low-interest federal financing, which could save the NISP participants millions of dollars in financing costs.

“Far too many communities still face significant water challenges, making these transformative investments in water infrastructure so crucial,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “The WIFIA invited projects will deliver major benefits like the creation of good-paying jobs and the safeguarding of public health, especially in underserved and under-resourced communities.”

NISP will bring high-quality water to Northern Colorado’s growing communities without drying agricultural lands to support municipal water use, which will help preserve the region’s legacy for decades to come.
