Northern Water Supports Reauthorization of Cache la Poudre National Heritage Area

Northern Water has joined the Colorado congressional delegation and many other organizations to support the reauthorization of the Cache la Poudre National Heritage Area through the National Park Service.

First funded through the National Heritage Areas program in 2009, the Cache la Poudre National Heritage Area tells the historical significance of the river not only in Northern Colorado, but its impacts on water policy throughout the Western United States.

Funding through the program has leveraged important projects in the Poudre River basin, including the creation of curriculum materials accessed by teachers throughout the region.

Sens. John Hickenlooper and Michael Bennet have introduced legislation that will reauthorize the program beyond its current expiration in 2024.
